Weight Loss Surgery Support Groups
People who go to support groups are more successful with their weight loss. That’s why we encourage you to be active in the Weight Loss Surgery Support Groups. If you’re thinking about weight loss surgery but haven’t decided which surgery is best for you, a support group meeting gives you the chance to talk to people who have had different types of Bariatric surgeries.
Our support groups meet at 6:30 pm on the second Tuesday of each month. Meetings are in the Frederick C. Smith Conference Center (Near Magnolia Cafeteria) on the 6th floor of Miami Valley Hospital. After a presentation, the group breaks into smaller groups based on surgery type (Adjustable Gastric Band, Laparoscopic Roux-en-y (Gastric By-pass), Gastric Sleeve and Duodenal Switch). These smaller groups talk about things that are specific to each procedure. Topics include diet and nutrition, vitamins, weight loss success and barriers, and life after surgery.
